The Watermead at Oak View – Show home room by room

With a home for everyone and the second phase due to launch this month, Oak View is proving popular with a whole host of prospective buyers. Named in respect of the noble oak tree at the entrance of the development and the close proximity to the National Forest, the beautifully designed homes at Oak View by Mulberry Homes have been modelled on the lasting character of the area.

Here we take a closer look at the impressive four bedroom detached Watermead show home, boasting approx 2,000 sq ft of spacious luxury living interior designed by Jane Clayton & Company.

Chloe Simpson, Designer at Jane Clayton & Company said: “Our brief was to create a home that balanced the needs of contemporary family living with a luxurious aesthetic that was sympathetic to the beautiful village setting of Appleby Magna.  With its abundance of natural light, spacious rooms and large feature windows we selected window treatments that really maximised the effect of all the light whilst reinforcing the identity of each room and complementing the scheme as a whole.”

“Throughout the show home we selected furniture pieces with glazed and metal finishes to create a very contemporary feel. We then added depth and warmth by introducing colour and rich textures in the fabrics and wallpaper. The result is a balanced aesthetic that feels both luxurious and liveable. In addition, navy blue has been a huge colour trend this year and in the Watermead we paired it with cool greys and silver finishes for a contemporary take on luxe living.”

Here we take a tour room by room…

Kitchen/family room

The kitchen/family room is a key area of any home and we wanted to create a multi-purpose space that could easily adapt to the changing needs throughout the day.  The aim is for people to walk into that room and really see themselves living in the space.  We created a more relaxed feeling by introducing bold patterns in the rug and fabrics and choosing furniture that compliments the modern gloss kitchen.

Living room

Along with every room in the house, the living room is generously proportioned with Georgian style windows and high ceilings and like the kitchen also benefits from bi-fold doors opening out onto the patio and garden area. We used the wood-burning stove as a focal point here and selected elegant furniture pieces to create a slightly more formal feel. The textured wallpaper pulls the room together and the blue is further picked up in fabrics and the bold rug design.

Master bedroom

The Master Suite is all about impact. The generously proportioned bed with oversized bedside chests gives this room a real sense of grandeur, whilst the warmer neutral colour scheme with touches of navy and gold feel opulent and inviting.

Guest room

The guest suite has a much lighter feel than the master, still with the same generous proportions but with a softer colour palette and more pared back furniture shapes; the perfect place for visiting family or weekend guests.

Appleby Magna

The desirable village of Appleby Magna is undeniably well connected with easy access of the M42 with links to Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, Derby and Leicester.  The village offers a range of amenities including the renowned Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated Sir John Moore Primary School, two public houses and a Post Office/convenience store.

Mulberry Homes is building a collection of three, four and five bedroom homes at Oak View, with prices currently starting at £237,950 with Help to Buy and part exchange available.
