Commercial team scoops IAS Deal of the Year

We are celebrating after our commercial team won Deal of the Year in the over 250,000 square foot category of the Industrial Agents Society (IAS) awards held in London last month (September 18).

The prize-winning agreement was secured with leading logistics company Eddie Stobart for a 844,000 square foot unit on a 20 year lease at our Midlands Logistics Park (MLP) which is located in Corby, immediately off the newly dualled A43, close to the A14.

MLP is a 250,000 acre storage and distribution site currently under construction with the support of our joint venture partner Frogmore. The site is capable of receiving 2.5m square foot of logistics warehouse. Work on the scheme began in 2016 and there are currently two plots remaining to potential occupiers.

MLP is one of only a handful of sites in the region that is truly development ready that has the scale to accommodate buildings of this magnitude.

The IAS awards showcase the best of the sector, by providing examples of not only profitable deal making but also to show where solutions can be found in often challenging circumstances.

In their report the judges said they were, “impressed by the sheer scale of this deal and the confidence shown in the speculative site acquisition to deliver it”.

Phil Jones, Development Director, said, “We are delighted to have received the accolade for Deal of the Year after successfully attracting a major household name such as Eddie Stobart to Corby.

“We have invested heavily in remediation and infrastructure in order to prepare MLP for high profile occupiers and to help raise the profile of this strategically located town.  We take pride in our ability to offer a flexible and collaborative approach to negotiations which enables us to truly deliver what businesses need in order thrive.”

MLP has been designed with sustainability in mind.  Buildings have achieved a Very Good Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating as well as an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of A.  10 per cent of the construction materials are from recycled sources, whilst 95 per cent of construction waste is recycled.

Additionally, we have retained and enhanced an area of woodland on site which is home to a variety of wildlife including the protected Great Crested Newt.

Units at MLP are still under construction and further details are available from www.mlp.co.uk. The Agents appointed to the scheme are M1 Agency, CBRE and Burbage Realty.
