Creaton-based Mulberry Developments has secured a new site in Bedford which it plans to invest £30 million to develop into a logistics park, creating more than 250 jobs for the area.
The site, which was formerly part of a larger site owned by manufacturing giant 3M, is now set to be cleared and a planning application submitted for up to 250,000 square feet of logistics space.
Located on Hudson Road, the 12.12 acre site is part of the Elms Farm industrial Estate to the north east of the town.
Mulberry hopes to attract a range of freehold and leasehold industrial, logistics and some manufacturing tenants bringing much needed new commercial space to the area, which is a key location for UK transport links and available labour.

“Bedford has perhaps been overlooked previously but it is now growing in popularity with occupiers keen to take advantage of the easy access to major routes via the A1 and M1.

The site, which is yet to be named, will be marketed by agents M1 Agency, Cushman and Wakefield and Louch Shacklock.

The new jobs will be created once the development is completed. Additional jobs will be provided throughout the construction process. The site is already vacant after 3M consolidated its operations last year. Subject to planning approval, Mulberry hopes to start work during the latter part of 2019.
